learn Japanese in Japanese
We are...

Anne - Instructional Design
Anne Parmeter is an adult educator and instructional designer living in downtown Portland. Her role for this application is the Head of Learning. She started learning Japanese at 11 years old, and later lived in Japan for three years, going on to earn a BA in Japanese Language and later an MA in Applied Linguistics. She has spent her career in the intersection of learning and technology. This is her first time working on a mobile application. She hopes her next project will be easier.

Rachael - UI Layout & Design
Rachael is an illustrator and designer who resides in SE Alaska. She has visited Japan twice and is currently studying the language with the aim of becoming fluent. She is responsible for anything visual you see on this website and in the KanjiGOn5 app. From UI layout, to icon design and creation, to kanji stroke order animation, to interaction artwork. If you see it on-screen, she designed and illustrated it.

Savannah - Programming
Savannah is an artist and self-taught software developer living in Oregon. She is extremely motivated and taught herself to program using Construct 2 to become an indispensible team member. Anything that animates, can be tapped or dragged, is thanks to her. Besides developing Kanji GO N5, she enjoys geeking out about G1 Transformers and baking.
A big thank you to...
Sayaka Shibayama & Makiko Nakamura
Sayaka and Makiko are two extremely gracious and helpful native Japanese speakers who edited our app along it's way. Without their native Japanese ability, the app could not be what it is today.
